Schofields has changed more than almost any suburb in the area in the last fifteen years. Around the station and along Schofields Road are new estates: double-storey volume-builder homes, townhouses and apartments, with 2.7 metre ceilings, builder walk-ins and sliding robes in every bedroom. Further out are the older streets and the remaining acreage, with 1960s to 1980s homes of a very different character.

In the new homes the job is finishing the builder fit-out: the walk-in re-fitted with double hanging, drawers and shoe shelving, and the sliding robes given internals that suit the person using them. In the townhouses and apartments it is a full-wall sliding robe that uses every millimetre of a compact bedroom.

In the older homes and on the acreage, it is more often a replacement into an original recess, or a walk-in in an extension, measured to walls that are not quite square and ceilings that vary from room to room.

We are in a new townhouse with very small bedrooms. Is a custom robe worth it?

In a small bedroom it matters more, not less. A standard module leaves gaps at the top and sides; a custom robe uses the full wall and height, with sliding doors so the bed can sit close, and double hanging inside. The difference in what the room holds is large.

Can you do acreage properties out past the estates?

Yes. Schofields is well inside our area. The designer measures onsite like any other job.
