Wardrobes for Kings Langley homes
Kings Langley was developed mostly in the 1970s and early 1980s as a planned estate, and it still looks like one: single and split-level brick-veneer project homes, established gardens, and streets that curve. Three and four bedrooms are standard, with a main bedroom that is generous by the standards of the era and a full-width wardrobe recess in each of the others.
The wardrobes are typically original. Chipboard carcasses, vinyl-wrap or mirror doors on a floor track, a single rail and a top shelf, and a filler panel above because they stopped at 2.1 metres under a 2.4 metre ceiling. Replacing them with a floor-to-ceiling robe made to the recess, with double hanging and a drawer bank, is the main job here.
Many Kings Langley homes have been extended or had the main bedroom opened up, and in those we are often asked for a walk-in in the new space or a hinged robe that matches the renovation.

Questions from Kings Langley homeowners
Anything else? Ask your designer at your onsite consult.
Our 1970s wardrobe stops short of the ceiling with a panel above. Can the new one go all the way up?
Yes. The new robe is made to the full height of the opening, so the dead space above the old one becomes a top shelf for luggage and seasonal things.
Do split-level homes cause any problems?
No. Each wardrobe is measured in its own room. The only thing to allow for is stair access on install day, which the designer notes at the consult.
How close is Kings Langley to the factory?
About 3 km, which makes it one of the easiest suburbs for us to schedule.
