Quakers Hill grew quickly through the 1980s and 1990s, and most of its streets are single and double-storey brick-veneer family homes: four bedrooms, a main bedroom with an ensuite and a walk-in robe, and three smaller bedrooms with built-ins. Ceilings are mostly 2.4 metres, with 2.55 in some of the later houses. Around Quakers Hill station and the newer edges towards Schofields are townhouses and more recent builds.

The builder-fitted walk-ins of that era are the thing we are asked about most. Our walk-in has a single rail on each wall. Is it worth re-fitting, or should we start again?

Re-fit. The walls and the space are fine; it is only the internals that are wrong. Double hanging on one side, long hanging and a drawer bank on the other, and angled shoe shelving at the end will roughly double what the walk-in holds without changing the room.
